Sekonic C-800 SpectroMaster Color Meter
Sekonic C-800 SpectroMaster Color Meter
Overview: The Sekonic C-800 SpectroMaster is an advanced color meter designed for precise measurement and analysis of light in photography, videography, and cinematography. Offering comprehensive color information, it helps professionals assess both natural and artificial lighting, making it an essential tool for cinematographers, lighting designers, and still photographers who require accurate color consistency across multiple light sources. The C-800 is capable of reading all forms of lighting, including LED, HMI, fluorescent, tungsten, and natural sunlight, making it a versatile and indispensable tool for any lighting setup.
Key Features:
-
Wide Light Source Compatibility: The Sekonic C-800 can measure a vast range of light sources, including LED, HMI, tungsten, fluorescent, and natural sunlight. It is optimized to analyze color temperature, CRI, TLCI, and other critical color metrics for modern lighting technologies, especially LED fixtures, which are widely used in cinematography and photography.
-
Comprehensive Color Metrics:
- CCT (Correlated Color Temperature): Provides accurate measurement of light color temperature in Kelvin, helping you match your lights to a specific temperature for consistent and balanced lighting.
- CRI (Color Rendering Index): Measures the accuracy of a light source in rendering colors as compared to natural light, with values ranging from 0 to 100.
- TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index): Specifically designed for video and broadcast work, TLCI helps assess how accurately a light source reproduces colors for television cameras.
- TM-30-15: An advanced color quality assessment method developed by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), providing both fidelity (Rf) and gamut (Rg) indices for in-depth color analysis.
- SSI (Spectral Similarity Index): Designed for evaluating LED and other light sources in comparison to standard reference illuminants.
-
Built-in Spectrum Analyzer: The C-800 features a high-precision spectrum analyzer that measures the entire visible spectrum, offering detailed spectral distribution curves. This allows for deeper insight into the characteristics of a light source, especially when mixing different lighting types on set.
-
Lux and Foot-Candle Measurements: In addition to color analysis, the Sekonic C-800 also measures the intensity of light in lux or foot-candles, allowing users to balance exposure between various light sources.
-
Wireless Remote Control Capability: The C-800 supports wireless control via a smartphone app, enabling remote light measurements and adjustments on the fly. This is especially useful when adjusting lights in difficult-to-reach locations.
-
Customizable Settings and Profiles: The meter allows for the creation of custom profiles for different lighting setups. This ensures quick and accurate readings when switching between various lighting configurations or environments.
-
Simple and Intuitive Interface: Featuring a large, easy-to-read color touch screen, the C-800 makes navigating and accessing various measurement modes simple and efficient. The intuitive interface reduces setup time and provides users with critical information at a glance.
-
Durable and Portable Design: Built for demanding environments, the C-800 is rugged enough for use on sets and locations while still being compact and lightweight for easy portability.
